How an online metadata remover works
The file is uploaded over HTTPS, decoded on the server and written back out from its pixel data. Because only pixels are written to the new file, supported metadata blocks — EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP and removable C2PA manifests — are not carried into the cleaned copy.
Nothing is installed on your device. That is the practical difference between an online remover and a desktop utility: it behaves the same on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android and iOS.
What you can clean here
The tool handles the metadata families that a re-encode can drop:
- EXIF — camera or phone model, timestamps, exposure settings and GPS coordinates
- IPTC — author, copyright, description and keyword fields
- XMP — structured metadata written by Adobe apps and many other tools

Why use the online version
An online cleaner is convenient when the image is already on a phone, or on a machine without specialist software. There is nothing to install, and you do not need to know which tool writes which metadata block.
It is also consistent: the same server-side pipeline processes every file, so a JPEG from one device and a PNG from another are handled identically.
Verification, not guesswork
After cleaning, the output file is analysed again with the same reader. The report marks each category as removed or not removed based on that second pass, rather than assuming the re-encode worked.
If a Content Credentials manifest is cryptographically bound to the file and survives the re-encode, the report says so plainly.
Limits and privacy
JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP are supported up to 20 MB per file, and you can clean a batch of up to 20 images at once. Data embedded in the pixels themselves — such as invisible AI watermarks — is not file metadata and cannot be removed by any metadata cleaner.
Uploads go to an isolated temporary directory, the original is deleted as soon as processing finishes, and the cleaned copy is deleted after download or when its download window expires.
